Our Mission
Working towards UN Sustainability Goals and Tackling Climate Change
Working toward our mission we use a solutions orientated approach, meaning we are working now on appropriate and tailored methods of plastic waste recovery. This is important as not all solutions such as large booms, trash walls, or barriers can work at every location.
Who We Are
We are a team of researchers that have focused on studying the smallest of plastic pollution, from nano to microplastics. Now we are focusing on the larger problem.
Targeting plastic waste at source and at rivers before it enters the sea is a must. Although challenging, recovering plastic waste here is much more manageable than at sea. We also mitigate the increase occurrence of microplastics by removing plastic waste earlier.
Core Approaches
To tackle the plastic problem we are:
- Targeting plastic recovery in the most polluted rivers
- Building river booms specific to the location
- Providing education on waste management
- Providing education on health related impacts
What sets us apart?
We work on the forefront of plastic pollution research. Giving us a direct understanding of the world recommended approaches to clean up and impact. We follow approaches reviewed by the International Plastic Treaty.
Using this knowledge we work towards several of the United Nations Sustainability Development Goals including: clean water and sanitation (goal 6), and Climate Action (goal 13). Working on these will benefit local, national and international communities as plastic pollution affects us all.
